Duke is the kind of dog who has truly never met a stranger. He makes friends everywhere he goes—with people, dogs, and animals of all sizes. He is confident, social, easygoing, and incredibly adaptable.
At 35 pounds, Duke has a beautiful, well-balanced build. He stands nice and tall with good proportions, straight feet, a gorgeous head, and striking double blue eyes. His unfurnished, smooth coat gives him a completely different look from the traditional furnished Bernedoodle and makes him an exciting option for thoughtfully planned breeding programs.
But as handsome as Duke is, his temperament is what really makes him special.
Duke has been my 16-year-old son's best buddy since he was little. The two of them do life together. Duke is just as happy camping, hiking, exploring, and going on an adventure as he is stretched out on the bed watching TV with his favorite human.
He travels beautifully in the car, does not get carsick, and handles new places and experiences with confidence. He is highly food motivated, easy to train, eager to work with his people, and naturally human-focused.

Duke brings together so many of the things I value in a dog: temperament, trainability, structure, versatility, and a genuine love for people.
He isn't simply a beautiful dog.
He's a really, really good dog.
And that matters every bit as much as what he looks like.

Genetic Transparency Note
Duke’s Embark results show approximately 8.4% Australian Shepherd ancestry. I am not aware of Australian Shepherd being present in either of his parents, and I have several dogs from his sire’s lines that do not show Aussie ancestry.
Breed-percentage estimates from DNA companies are just that—estimates—and small percentages can occasionally vary or be inaccurate depending on the company’s reference database and algorithms.
To date, this Australian Shepherd percentage has not appeared in the Embark results of Duke’s offspring. I still believe in being completely transparent, so I disclose it rather than ignore a result simply because it is unexpected.
For breeding decisions, I look at the entire dog: verified health testing, structure, temperament, pedigree, genetics, and the results we see in his offspring.
